07-21-2012 Jessica & Trevor’s gorgeous summer wedding at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Sudbury, ON was beautifully decorated, sophisticated and elegant with personal touches from the Bride & Groom and the family.

We met Trevor & Jessica at the hall only a couple hours prior to their ceremony. I was  struck by how calm they both were.  They were there to put the finishing touches on the table centerpieces, tall vases with led lights, glass stones and peacock feathers. As I talked with Jessica, I asked her who decorated the hall.  We have a few very talented decorators in town. To my surprise she told me she’d ordered the chair covers and linens online through a company in California (www.chaircoverfactory.com) for a fraction of what it would cost to rent them.  Fortunately for her, her parents winter in Arizona so she was able to order them, have them delivered to the Arizona address, and when her parents came home, they didn’t have to worry about duty when they crossed the border.  The table centerpieces were purchased in the states as well for a fraction again of what it would cost here. It can be so costly when planning a wedding. When you’re able to find a deal and still get the look you’re going for, what more could you ask for?  The beautiful thing is, after your wedding is all done, you can sell all of the chair covers, linens, and centerpieces on Kijiji and help out another bride looking to save some money on her wedding!

The History

We originally met Stephanie at the September 17, 2011 Bridal Show. Getting together with them to discuss their wedding and what they were looking for, it was very clear that Patrick loves his classic Rock music.  He was a man after my husband’s heart.  He loves Classic Rock too.  Ah if only a reception could be all Rock, how wonderful would that be!!  🙂   From the onset, you could tell that this couple was down to earth and all about family.  It was going to be a beautiful wedding.

The Venue

Beautifully decorated, the Holiday Inn Solarium was the perfect backdrop for this couple. Vines and trees cover the wall of windows, letting in just enough light that shone on the fountain in the corner. Decorations were provided by Unforgettable Weddings.

To iPod or Not to iPod, that is the Question

There is so much more that goes into DJing a wedding then simply playing music, so much more to think about. A recent article I read brought up some interesting points to consider when thinking about whether or not to hire someone or just get a friend or family member to be your music person.

First ask yourself this, “how much importance does the musical end of their celebration mean to them; do you want your guests to dance”? Continue reading

The History

We had the priviledge of meeting Mel and Donny back on September 27, 2011. We could tell right from the start they were a very special couple. The day after she got engaged, Mel was on the phone calling vendors, ready to plan her wedding. If it had been up to her, they’d have been married the very next day.  Her excitement filled the air!

We love all of our couples, but some of them blossom into friendships and not just a client/vendor relationship. This was the case with Donny and Mel. After our consultation and booking meeting, she “liked” our Reds DJ Facebook page and sent me a friend request as well.  Her and I became fast friends.  We’d spend many a Saturday night watching the Africam webcast and chatting while we saw certain animals come into view.
